Fairies chimneys
It is one of the most mysterious places in Turkey. There are many fairy chimneys in Cappadocia, mostly in the valleys of Urgup, Uchisar, and Avanos, the most famous of which are located in the Pasabag Valley, on the Goreme-Avanos highway.
Many stories and legends spread around it, so it was known as “fairy chimneys”, which are natural rock formations formed by wind, rain, and floods, over a million years old, and taking the form of mushrooms.
It was used in ancient times as a shelter and temple, once you see it you can imagine how ancient monks lived in seclusion on top of these magical pillars.
Uchisar Castle
Uchisar is the gateway to Cappadocia, home to the highest peak and most panoramic point in the region.
Located on the Nevsehir-Goreme road, 5 km from Goreme, Uchisar Castle is a huge fortress carved into the rocks, with multiple floors and windows. It was used to protect against invaders during the Roman and Byzantine eras and was also used as a watchtower during the Seljuk period.
It contains a group of tunnels, caves, water cisterns, and tombs carved in the rocks, and it offers its visitors a wonderful opportunity to see the Cappadocia region from the top, valleys, and cave dwellings surrounding the town of Uchisar in a panoramic scene that catches the eye, so it was known as the "Eye of Cappadocia".
